That is overpriced - I too think it is priced like a perfect running black face vibrolux...but its a super cool amp

No way. That's a ridiculous price.

Interesting (as we don't see many bf clone builders)

Who would you suggest to built an honest replica/clone?

A buddy has a minty 65 VR, all original iron, original speakers and it’s been serviced. I have a 71 VR that has been internally BF’d and is running a pair of Jupiter speakers. When I plugged my amp into his speakers the difference was indistinguishable and he (the real BF owner) was the one that said it.

There’s really very little sound difference between BF and SF on the smaller amps. I know some things changed internally and I believe in 73 they went to MDF cabs.

I'll second that idea. David Allen built me an Encore head last year.

I run it thru my 66 Bassman cab with the original C12N Jensen's.

    It's a killer sounding amp....no regrets.

That price is way too much for a non-working amp. I don't think I would pay $3,000 for one in pristine condition. I bought a '67 VR for $1800 in 2010 and considered it a bargain. Today, I might be willing to go as high as $2500 if it was in excellent condition.
I would suggest looking for an early silverface. The circuit is nearly identical, and you can still find them under $1500.

A pic of the power supply caps should have been included in the listing. I don't remember seeing those black 25/25 caps or the orange bias cap in a blackface Fender, none of mine had them. If neither transformer is toast, it would be easy to bring it back with a cap job, verify the component values and replace any tubes as needed. But then it would work great but would not be "untouched". As others have said, $2500 is way too high for an amp that does not work because the problem is uncertain. Even in good working condition I would not pay that much. I have bought a number of vintage amps under $1000 and many under $500, some looked as nice as this one.

I don't see an upper back panel or a reverb / tremolo foot switch pedal in the pictures.

Not true. Just compare the AA864 schematic to the AB568. Then again with the AA270.

I did and once you drill into it, it's some small value changes.

Oh yeah! Why even concern yourself with the BFVR is you already have a perfectly working 69 SFVR? Move on to other things! You're already set! BR vs. SF is cork sniffing.
