VH's take on the blooz? No thanks. It gives Hagar a pedestrian forum to be even more pedestrian.
The success of "Right Now" was more about the video than the song.
For me, it would have to be something off of "5150." I like "Summer Nights," but the lyrics have too many embarrassing sexual Sammy-isms. "Why Can't This Be Love?"... Interesting, but the lyrics are blah. Jeez... I think I'm going to have to say "Dreams," which surprises me.
Not for me. Loved the song and thought the video took some of the edge off of it.
Top of the World
Black & Blue
Personally, for me it'd be "Get Up". That song ROCKS. But I think they hit a home-run in terms of mass appeal with "That's What Dreams Are Made Of".
Dunno if it's the best, but this is my favorite (and my favorite version, to boot)
The Best of Both Worlds (New Haven, Sept '86)
5150 and Summer Nights is a close second.
"Aftershock" on Balance.
"5150" (the song) is really good, but it sure could've used a better title.
I'm a fan of Poundcake. Not great lyrically, but I just dig it.
When I saw the thread title I immediately thought of this song too!
For me it's this one.
Mostly because of Eddie's Clapton-style solo.
I liked the Van Hagar stuff.
Worse lyricist : Plant or Hagar...?
Hmmmm...I guess it depends on whether you're into Tolkien or chicks in monokini's.
Anyway - my favorite Eddie song of the Van Hagar stuff is this one. 2 solos and some very stripped-down but aggressive playing from Eddie. (Of course Sammy's lyrics...oy-frickin-vey...)
Overall ? I still love the song "5150" (love it). Eddie is one of the best rhythm players ever and this song is only one example.
Love me Some Van Hagar!!
Yellow Music Man was always my favorite too!
Poundcake for me.
I like Good Enough from 5150.
I always loved Runaround from F.U.C.K.
I love Black & Blue from OU812
Everything from 5150

Finish What You Started
I don't care about deep, intellictual lyrics. In good time rock and roll, I want easy fun to sing along with lyrics.
