Another vote for an Eminence Cannabis Rex. It's a superb speaker for jazz. Very smooth and full. Mellows out the highs and has a nice round bottom end. I have one in my Roland BC 60 and I love it. Best upgrade that amp could ever have had.

I would dig a 15" version of the C Rex.

Well they've got an 8" a 10" and a 12" so sooner or later a 15" would be logical if the demand is there. I'm just thinking that a lot of 15" users play steel and I'm not sure they'd want to smooth over those highs. Just thinkin' out loud.

Eminence Delta 12a in a ported cab is worth looking into - pair it with a high wattage solid state head and some chorus and reverb effects and you have awesome clarity and projection for Jazz playing.

I was going to say for higher wattage amps, there are fewer choices. Evans Amps is a good example. They use Eminence Betas (10, 12 or 15") in their 200 series and Eminence Deltas (10, 12 or 15") in their 500 series. They are really PA speakers, aren't they?

Yep, they're general purpose speakers usually used for PA. The Delta 12a is similiar in response to an EV 12L but rolled off more in the high end. They also do the 12a Pro which has the heavy cast basket and is closer to the EV but still has less top end response. The Eminence units are excellent value for money and very adaptable to different applications but are great for Jazz guitar rigs.

If you want to spend on the higher end the Eminence Canis Major (Alnico) or
the bit less also their Tonker model. Think the Cannabis Rex would be very good
also. I have a CR in a Fender Deluxe and nice smooth sound but don't do jazz
settings much beyond bit of Grant Green/Cornell Dupree type.

Eminence has some sound bites of jazz playing for these speakers on their site.

Most of my gigs are jazz gigs and yes a Crex is a fine speaker for this application and more.
I've also been on a speaker bender since joining this forum.
So have exp on a few speakers that would give a good jazz tone.
IMHO a celestion greenback is a fantastic jazz speaker, I get that woody jazz tone for days with any archtop into a cheap vox ac15 with the standard issue greenback. They can be had cheap too.

I use Delta 15 as well, great sound, Also have a Ragin Cajun, but Delta seems more appropriate for jazz. Love that headroom and smoothness...
With different amps, from Micro Terror tp SCX2, passing frontmans or Ibanez TSA...

Could you be a little more vague? Like, what amp is the speaker going in ... what size speaker? Tube amp, transistor amp?

I have an old Twin with original Jensens that sounds like Kenny Burrell, and a little Polyyone that sounds like Joe Pass, but the 8" sound reinforcement speaker in the Polytone wouldn't sound too good in the Twin, and the C12Ns in the Twin wouldn't be ideal for the Polytone ( I guess you could carry a 2x12 cab around).
