Nothing against VHT's, I've never owned one but Sweetwater doesn't sell them. Yes, these are backordered but this is was I would buy, especially if I had a Sweetwater within driving distance.

I looked at a lot of amps in the category you are interested in. If you can't burn that hole in your pocket at the SW event on a Monoprice, go VHT Special 6 after you get home. I bought the Ultra head, but the combos have very well matched speakers in them.

15w no, 6w yes. Do you want to gig with it? If yes you have to spend money, at least $500 unless 2nd hand.
I'm still in love with my Traynor DH15. A small beast of an amp..

I'll throw in the Panama Conqueror 5. 5f1 circuit and tons of tone! Not sure I'm that impressed with the attenuator and the tone knob doesn't have as much range as I'd like but it's a strong sounding 5 watt amp.

I picked up a special edition Fender Blues Jr used, has some Bill M mods, upgraded reverb tank, Celestion Greenback, it surprised me how good it sounds,I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is.
I mostly use it for band practice but I would gig with it, miked.

I've got the little 5 watter with the furniture legs. Really enjoy the soinds it puts out with and without the tubescreamer engaged.

The "dirt-cheap" adjective does not really go with the others. Also, it's very subjective; dirt-cheap for one person might be exorbitantly high for another. Better to just substitute "under X amount", then at least it gives everyone a clearer target.

Another vote for either the VHT Special 6 or Vox AC10! You can't go wrong with either of them, just different flavors of awesomeness!

Sweetwater has the Pro Junior for $419. I'd put mine up against any 15 watter!

Another good choice in a very "tube like" SS amp. I have a 100w Katana head at the top of my wish list now.

Get something used. Used Peavey Classic 30, Blues Junior, Peavey Valveking, Vox AC15 can all be had in your price range.

Find a used VHT AV-HW1-12 "Standard 12"- it's a handwired 5E3 clone with a nice sounding Celestion speaker. You shouldn't have trouble finding one for $500... even less if you're patient. They made an 18 watt Marshall clone too.
