I think he nails it!
There are so many great versions of this song ...
That song is in my top ten songs of all time.
When I hear it I see the kids on American Bandstand dancing.
Very cool! I think that's Derrick Mau from Honolulu. I also like Amos Garrett's version. He does the big bend on the G string 12th fret (quite a stretch).
Ya thats Derrick.
He needs to read the "stage presence thread"
anyone got the STEEL dots/tab/method for this? especially the tuning.
I know it's really easy, just difficult to get right. I'm the only steeler I know, hence my name. I'm telling people I'm some kind of expert but I don't have a definite way of playing this tune.
I'm assuming it's C6, which doesn't help cos I'm never there.
[Amazing tune.. I'd never heard it till it was on an episode of Heroes. I just had to know, and after about 40 minutes of internet search through sites full of fanboys saying how much they hate Heroes I found the title. No official info available from the makers of the show. More searching and I got guitar tab in standard tuning. duh]
C#m7 tuning. Aloha
and the best tele player in IL....(that I know of ..)Tim Wallis
Thanks Mark, always assumed it was C6. No wonder I could never get it quite right. Don't play steel anymore, but doing an okay version on regular guitar. One of the best steel/ guitar tunes ever. Amazing how it holds up and doesn't sound the least bit dated. Great relaxing mood setter and slow dance tune. Nice to throw into a set.
So that's also an E6 chord and you play from the 8th position?
Any more pointers?
[aint paying for the steel guitar forum cos I'm cheap]
My personal fav' done by the man himself.
