Stephen Stills’ Manassas album would get my vote.
I guess it’s a solo album.
It was technically a band, but Stills was very much the alpha dog.
He had great help from Chris Hillman, and fantastic sidemen and percussionists.
I love it still, all these decades later.
Great, memorable songs, wall to wall!
Syd Barrett- “The Madcap Laughs”
Gilmour's first solo album that he did after Animals.
Peter Gabriel "So".
Dickey (Richard) Betts’ Highway Call is pretty great!
+1 on 6 Wives...a really unique recording by the Yes keyboard player, a classically trained musician. Beautiful music. I played if for my stodgy high school orchestra teacher in the 11th grade. He was blown away and we became fast friends. God bless Rick and Murray Linden (the orchestra teacher!).
+1001 on Alone Together. A truly great solo effort. Wore out 2 vinyl copies!
Origins vol. 1, Ace’s album of covers, is still one of my favorite things.
