What are your favourite solo albums by artists who are better known for being in a band? Doesn't have to be a guitarist.

Off hand I always enjoyed roger Taylor’s fun in space. Roger is of course the drummer in queen.

Dennis Wilson’s Pacific Ocean blue is another favourite. (Maybe drummers do the best solo albums?)

The first five that came to mind:

Ric Okasek - This Side Of Paradise (the guest players make it my second favourite Cars album - after their debut of course!

Steve Lukather - Luke (superb songs, playing and production)

Trevor Rabin - Can't Look Away (see above)

Jeff Lynne - Armchair Theatre (see above, and it's mostly all just him!)

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass (the best ex-Beatle solo, imho)

Keith Richards - "Talk Is Cheap"

His other solo works were "Meh", but this one is good.

    Okay, I'll venture out:

Jeff Beck's "Blow by Blow" album

My fave songs on the album:

    'Cause We've Ended As Lovers

    Freeway Jam

Solo albums after UFO were pretty darn good!

The drummer from Nirvana made a pretty good solo album. It was really solo too as he played everything on it. Foo something or others he called it

I love the Pete Townshend solo albums and particularly Empty Glass and Chinese Eyes.

    Beaten to it!
Great albums, but then again I like most of Pete's solo work. Another favourite is Psychoderelict.

This one is a gem too, although it might not strictly qualify for this thread as it is a duo and not a solo album.

I only recently came across the John Frusciante solo albums. He has a surprisingly strong body of solo work!

I don't think I've ever heard that one. Will now hunt that down, cheers for the heads up. :)
