    Post-punk...

    Sounds like a term the original punks would've loathed. Probably would have caused them to beat themselves with their own guitars... which would've been very punk.

    there were a lot of gang of three bands.

    you know, gang of four, but not as good.

    Its basically early indie/garage rock but also overlaps with a lot of other stuff
