These are great. I am having more luck by running the few drives I have into each other at a very low gain setting. Still looking for something though. I may mod the normal channel on my Pro to take OD a little smoother.

Squier Vintage Modified 72 Thinline Telecaster, just put it away after playing.

I ran it through:

Barbershop V2, Swollen Pickle, great fuzz and lead tones.

Barbershop, Barber Compact Gain Changer, low gain, LTD setting, with or without Red Llama 25th.

Barbershop, Direct Drive, with or without Red Llama 25th.

Barbershop, Burn Unit EQ, with or without Red Llama 25th.

Great guitar for gainy sounds with lots of sustain available.

YMMV

Resurrecting an old thread to see if there are any newer pedals people are liking with their WRHBs.

I just put together a partscaster with CuNiFe pickups. Played two gigs with it this weekend and mostly used a Timmy with great results.

Glad to see it resurrected! OP here to say that the best sounds I’ve gotten so far are from the Sweet Honey OD from Mad Professor. It had a dying battery when I bought it and I loved the sound so I run it on an adjustable voltage plug at around 7v. Great tube like distortion that colors the sound but not to much. It’s a spongy drive and that works nicely with the clarity of the WRHB. That said, my initial concerns where unfounded and I have found many great sounding overdrives with these pickups. They really are very flexible. Probably just needed to turn the bright switch off on the pro reverb. Happy hunting!

Hey all. I have a new (to me) '74 thinline and it's a dream, however, I am not crazy about the OD sounds I am getting with my current set-up. I've got a BYOC OD 2, which is a tube screamer clone with some mods, that I run into the Fairfield Barbershop. It's a great sound for single coils but its hard to find an eq that sounds good on both the neck and bridge pups of the wide ranges. Also the large mid hump kind of takes away the range and clarity of the pickups. I want smooth, creamy drive with an even breakup that keeps the wonderful sound of these pickups.

So... for the WRHB players on the forum, what are some of your favorite OD's to match with them?View attachment 451061

I run into a well behaved silver-face pro reverb and mostly play country, blues rock stuff so I don't need crazy amounts of OD.

Thanks
Erik
Wowie-zowie that's sure a beautiful guitar.
I have Dimarzio Hum canceling pickups in my teles so the are kinna'sorta' humbucking pickups they sound real sweet ,
" like real tele pickups?" Your asking me ? I have a T.C. Electronic Mojo Mojo pedal and it's is great ( Paul Gilbert swears by the Mojo Mojo pedal)
I don't thing of this pedal as real overdrive / distortion , when adjusted just so it adds a sweet low gain fender type breakup
that's subtle and rich, warming opening up the sound while adding a smooth girth.
I have several dirt boxes that do amazing thinks to my teles sound but the Mojo Mojo leave the instruments sound in tact While Enhancing the sound.
There now a new Paul Gilbert edition of the mojo mojo,
Beautiful Blue ,
that's not the one I'm using I have the original Brown mojo mojo.
