What are the best fuzz pedals for that classic spaghetti western tone? I also want to be able to get tones like the ones heard in old country songs like “Don’t Worry” by Marty Robbins which I’ll link to below. I was looking for a smaller fuzz pedal about half the size of the Swollen Pickle Pedal. I also want it to have little to no background noise or hum when I switch it on. I was looking at the Catalinbread Fuzzrite and the Ennio Fuzz Standard. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

That track of Marty's sounds like the amp is on its way out more than a fuzz pedal....
Try a Mosrite type Fuzz, but they can be noisy

Oh yeah man that’s not a pedal that’s the amp. And those Mosrite Fuzzes are noisy? Like as in background noise/hum?

I had a Clone of the Mosrite fuzz, "Fuzzbrite" Fuzzwrong" or something.
It was noisy in the back ground, kinda comes with the deal imo.

Oh okay man thanks for the info. Do you happen to know anything about the Bigfoot FX Spaghetti Western Fuzz? That one sounds pretty great but I’m just worried about the background noise.

Way huge havalina. Great vintage sounding fuzz without the noise levels. Also, whatever switch they use is just sublime.

Yeah I’m a big fan of Way Huge! I have the Aqua Puss and I love it. The only problem is that’s a little too big for my pedal board. I want something about half the size of that.

The two transistor Italian tonebender might be better for these sounds than the three transistor mk1/2 versions.

Fuzzrite is a good bet. I have a clone by Toetags and it's really great.

A tone bender is not the way to go for spaghetti western tones. They have way too much bass. Can't go wrong with the fuzzrite. The EHX satisfaction (based on a bosstone) is another good one.

The varied responses to this thread tell me what I already know: with fuzzes you really have to try them and see what works. Or, you'll have numbers that sit around the house and never make the board.

Grady Martin on a six string bass through a faulty strip on the recording console.

If you're into or know someone who is. BYOC makes a Maestro MFV-1 clone Called "Li'l Black Key".

It's in a mini pedal format.

That’s true man. I might just have to try as much as I can.
