"best" floor based multi-effects unit ?

Hi Folks,
I've owned several multi-effects units over the years. None has prompted me to sell all of my stomp boxes but, compact multi-effects have their place.
Any of you guys have a favorite unit that you think is worth considering for professional use ? I currently have a well used ME 50 , considering replacing it , anything out there that sounds better? Small-ish , light weight say 7lbs , which is the weight of a Boss ME 50, yet sturdy enough to be used often.
Any ideas ?

I thought the Boss GT series sounded better actually. Very popular with cover bands in this state. The last one I had was the GT6. I believe it's been replaced by the 8 & 10 now.

I waited at least a year for the ME-50 to come out. It was released at NAMM but didn't hit dealers for a LONG time. When it was finally available I did a test run but decided to stick with my GT6.

Eventually I went right back to pedals; comp, OD, delay. They were all I used on the multi anyway, and this way I could pick the best of each.

NOS, I agree, pedals sound better, but multi's have their place.

I would suggest that you find pedals. I used a POD XT Live for a while. The amp models were great, the effects pedals really left something lacking. Now they have the POD XT3 or sumpin'. Has like 3 times the number of effects and amps. I would look into one of those.
Around $450 and change.

Get the new Tonelab LE,it sounds as good as the amazing Tonelab SE but it is much smaller in size.
If programmed right the TL will get you ALL the sounds you need as good (and most of the times even better) as individual pedals and than some....

Opened for Pat Travers a couple years ago, he had one of those giant Vox pedalboards, plugged into a PA power amp, then into a pair of 4-12 cabinets. Sounded amazing... wish I could remember which model...

Thanks for the suggestions , I'll have a look. The Vox LE looks pretty cool and at 9.26 pounds while heavier than my ME 50 its still 5 pounds lighter than my current travel rig. Worth a look.

I have the Boss GT-8 and absolutely love it in front of my 5E3 but it take3s a while to get it going but when you do it's pretty amazing for live work...dead quiet.

A pal of mine uses the Vox Tonelab. I think mutli fx boards are good because they give you an idea of which effects you need when you go to buy stompboxes.

i have 2... digitech rp 100 ive used for 5 years and like it a lot. easy to program and pretty reliable and sounds reasonably good for the $ and all that does.

and, a yamaha magic stomp which sounds a bit better, but is also considerably more expensive and has acted up on me occasionally... and, is not very easy to program. (ive been using this for the last 6 months.)

both sound good, but the rp 100 is much more user friendly and less apt to give me problems.

im thinking Line 6 for my next experiment in multi effect pedals.
