About 20 yrs ago, I had a custom banjo built. The builder had a lot of personal issues after I ordered it...but since I was patient (for a year or so), he gifted me an upgrade in materials when he finally got around to building it.

Then about 10 yrs back, I commissioned a hot-rod bluegrass banjo and chose the Sapele option. I had some Macassar Ebony fretboards and the fretboard looks like chocolate layer cake.

Yah, the bottom left tuner is for the 5th string, which dives thru a tunnel in the headstock and then comes out at the 5th fret. No tuner sticking out of the neck! Pretty common with late 19th/early 20th century UK Zither-banjos. Now it is a thing again.

My Furch G24CC 6 string acoustic might fit in here. A California Red Cedar top, Cocobolo back and sides, and Padouk body binding, rosette, and imbed in the headstock and neck inlay. Oh. .... and it sounds better than it looks.

If anyone wants to stock up on the craziest bird's eye and curly maple on Planet Dirt... there's a supplier near me that has 100,000 board feet on hand at all times.

They're not open to the public. If you can find them they're happy to do business. I know where they are.

They usually have a "private stock" of OTT super select.

The wood that is on my bench right now has a lot of that ocean wave look.

I am not sure where the client got the knob from. I waa lucky with that walnut as it was 2 consecutive pieces I found at my wood store.

As long as we are doing wood porn, here are a couple of mine. I think every one has seen the tele clone that I built last year - it has a lot of that wavy look
