I’ve had a Mooer ReEcho on a couple boards. It’s a good sounding pedal, kinda DD-7ish.

I had a Delta Lab delay once. Good for slapback and that’s about it but if that’s for you then they’re pretty cheap and built like a brick. Heavy!

I second the carbon copy recommendations. I also have a joyo analog delay... Green box, not a mini pedal, that I'm pleased with.

The Joyo green analog delay pedal is definitely a budget friendly keeper...3 knobs but solid sound...best bang for the buck unless you want more complexity

I use the Coolmusic Echolation pedal.
$45 on Amazon, and it does a host of delay effects, plus a reverse effect for Hendrix stuff.

What kind of delay are you looking for? I'm guessing an analog sounding delay based on your "out of price range" mentions.

Most cheaper analog delays are built around the PT2399 chip, a reverb/delay chip original designed for use in karaoke machines that's kind of halfway between old "bucket brigade" designs and DSP based designs. They work pretty well to a decent job with slapback type sounds although they don't get quite as warm or modulated sounding as BBD based delays. The Donner Yellow Fall uses this chip as do most others in the $50 or less price range.

The Behringer VD400 Vintage Delay uses a CoolAudio V3205 chip which is a BBD design based on the sought after and unobtainium priced MN3205 chip. It has a bit different, perhaps more traditional, sound than the numerous PT2399 based pedals. There are some other relatively inexpensive pedals around that use this chip as well but are typically more in the $75 to $125 range.

You could also go with a digital, DSP, based delay if you want something more than the basic analog delay. With these pedals you can get an analog emulation along with other features like reverse delays. I use an Ammoon PockEcho for this.

Flamma FS03 is 75.99 on Amazon. It’s not just a great budget pedal, it’s a great pedal. JHS has a good review he put up a few months ago. It gives a lot of different flavors and each of those flavors is tweakable.

You can check out some of the YouTube videos to see if it might work for you.

I have a Mosky Blue Delay, a mini pedal “inspired by” the Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay. It’s a simple 3 knob analog delay. $30 new. It’s been on my board for 3 years, no problems.

There are a lot of good options out there. I’ve had the Donner Tap Delay for a couple of years, and it does what I need and then some. No issues. It has Analog/Digital/Reverse options, I only use Analog. I mostly bought it because I wanted tap tempo, and it was the cheapest at the time with that feature. I’m happy with it. Last I checked, it wasn’t available anymore, but I’m sure the Yellow Fall would work as well other than the tap.

Well I seem to be the dissenter in the ranks. Never got on with the yellow fall it's knobs just seemed to small for me to dial in what I want.
Bought a TC electronic prophet for around same price and am much happier with it

Bear in mind that, with one exception, I use a delay pedal just for slapback. In 2012 I bought the green box Joyo analogue, because it was cheap, and the internet told me that analogue was best. I have been very happy with it, and it has worked faultlessly, £23 well spent. In the search for a simple board in a single pedal, about six years ago, £44 bought me a Donner Alpha Cruncher. This is ok for slapback, but excels for the intro to kool and the gang's Celebration. A bit longer delay and brighter, more in your face. Having decided to put together a mini board and reading loads of great reviews spent another £23 on the yellow fall. The mini board never completed, but it occasionally replaces the Joyo when I juggle the board. I sounds great.

I'm happy, maybe just lucky, maybe everything does slapback well, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, or have never experienced something exceptional, or would recognise it if it hit me in the face. None of these cost a great deal of cash, in total I have spent about half the cost of a memory man or carbon copy. For what I need I'm happy.

Very budget end stereo analogue delay from the 80s. Only dedicated delay pedal I've ever owned - went rackmount after that.
They pop up used from time to time for around £70ish. Quite sought after, apparently.

I've spent WAY more money over the decades on a gaggle of delay pedals, and for the last 6 years the best of the lot for me has been the uber cheap $50 Rogue analog delay. Love it for a light slap back, or the occasional deep space delay. It's the only modulation I use going into a variety of small amps such as a VHT Special 6 and an Orange Dark Terror.

Cool that you would recommend a humble Rogue pedal!

I wonder it that one is the same inside as this $21 shipped Monoprice delay.
