Just me or is the clapping in the background purposely kept "off time" to sound like a slight off-time to account for the mikes on the stage not catching the claps in time?

I don't know but I got my first kiss listening to that song back in the 70's.

It's a studio recording with added crowd noise which IIRC was mono made stereo with a simple slapback.

Last time I heard that album, it was on vinyl via a s**t hi-fi system .....

We never noticed, a mono system and a saphire stylus, everything sounded real .....

They tell me today you can talk to people on a phone without a lead, how is that possible ????

Goodby Yellow Brick Road was my first "grown up" record, and this was probably my favorite song.

When I learned that it was a studio recording to simulate a concert, it nearly made my little brain explode

Have you ever been to a concert where the audience clapped on beat?

Yes, and the claps were intentionally placed on the downbeats to make the crowd seem more British, as Americans tend to clap on the offbeat.

It's amazing the amount of useless trivia we carry around in our brains...
