Remakes tend to be poor imitations of the Original movie.
The remake of....Planet Of The Apes....was a mere shadow of the Original.
Are we going to have actual acting in this movie, or is it going to be computer generated 'action' scenes, from start to finish?

I expect it will be pretty poor, but won't be half as bad as X-Men: Apocalypse. I mean that set the bar for movie expectations pretty low for 2016...

I'm beginning to think the costs of grinding out flicks & sequels these days is grossly exaggerated to make them seem IMPORTANT and valuable -- BUT in reality, with all the GCI replacing sets etc, they actually cost a fraction of what they quote and all make a huge profit, even when they supposedly bomb.

The Charlton Heston version was a remake.

So when did the original BEN HUR come out, and was it a 'silent' film?

It's certainly the case for the key people and the studio, but I can tell you from experience that the vfx industry is being hammered.

1925. Yes, it was a silent film. That damned new-fangled technology ruined a great movie.

"Hammered" in what way? Too busy? Not busy enough? Wages getting cut? Criticism in internet forums?

I think no matter what Ben is still going to win the chariot race.

You actually see quite a few Vespas around here. Not sure what that says about my town, but I have not seen them anywhere but here.

First footage of the New Ben Hur, needs a little GCI touch up.

This might be the most appropriate, hilarious, curious, touching, bizarre, AWESOME gif response I've ever seen.

I'm not a fan of Charlton Heston, so it's got to be better and I'm rarely looking forward to this remake.

Okay, high hopes and low expectations.

I may be the only guy from my generation who has never actually watched Ben Hur.

I've seen the trailer and it looks awful.
One British newspaper has called it, 'Jesus meets the Fast & Furious'.
(Ben-Hur was his last name, as in 'Son Of Hur')
