I say belated, because I've had it for a few weeks. I found one used on the GC website, but it got snagged out from under me! I was lucky enough to find one locally but it needed some work and some TLC, but it was a rosewood fretboard 2016 model instead of the 2018 Pau Ferro model I missed out on it, so I was cool with it! You might have seen some of my other threads about it based on some of the restoration work I had to do to it, but now that that work is finished, I feel like I'm finally able to get a chance to play it the way it was meant to be played, so I wanted to share!
Quick rundown of the work I did; based on the previous owners mod's (see before and after), I had to replace the pickguard and the neck pickup. I went back to the mint green guard (really makes the faded sonic blue pop again!) and I removed his Duncan Hot Rail in the neck and installed a Lollar 52 T Series. I also need to level the frets and bring the fretboard back to life. The frets were super worn (dents on the high E, B, and G strings on every fret down the neck), also had bad fret sprout and the board was SUPER dry. I've never done a fret level/crown/polish before, but it turned pretty good considering! Did the best I could on the board. Close up, you can see some of the wear, but its not too major and doesn't affect playability at all. Just takes a little perspective switch to call the board "worn in" instead of "worn out", relic style!
I'm REALLY happy with it. The neck feels great as most, if not all, of the members here have discussed. I really dig the S1 switching too! I find myself not wanting to put it down, and that definitely tells me something! Glad I was able to find one and give it some new life! Great compliment to my 50's Road Worn.
I think I'm officially a Tele guy
