My ASAT Classic always amazes me at how versatile it is. Were you on the neck pickup, or the bridge with the tone rolled down?

Hey! I think Asat is one of the most reliable and versatile guitars you can get. It's like a swiss army knife:)

In this setting I played on a neck pickup, which to me sounds more like a strat than a tele:)

Nice playing and tone, good groove.

I did not actually learn how to play this song for years after listening ( as I wasn't playing guitar yet), but in the early '70s at 14, I bought CCR's ' Cosmo's Factory' album.

" Before You Accuse Me" is one of the covers, and Fogerty rocks it with a clean tone and Tremolo ( probably his BF Pro Reverb)- so later in the '80's, when I'm getting into the blues, I learned that version.
( hell of an album, Cosmo's Factory)

Sounds great. What is your opinion of the Special? I like the looks of those pickups.

Agreed. I've always thought that the neck pickup on my ASAT sounds like a strat too.

Thanks for all the info, interesting stuff! I really didn't know much about this song except that it was originally performed by Bo Diddley and later interpreted by various artists, most famous being Clapton himself.

didn't play the special yet, but it seems to me that bigger MFD magnets are suited towards more raw sounds/genres... What I like about the standard ones is you can get polished sounds out of them as well (sort of hifi quality).

I'd love to try one for sure:)

I have a '96 three bolt American G&L ASAT Special in my avatar. I love it. My favorite guitar

You have a more bold and biting ASAT tone than a standard Tele by far, perfect for this blues.

    Those are sick looking guitars...

Did you ever play any of the tribute models? If so, how do the necks compare? As far as I know necks on Fullertone Deluxe models are a bit thiner, which I'm not a fan of. I love the neck on this tribute model though.
