I guess you could say that this guy had his fare share of accomplishments and fame back in the 70's and 80's. Larry Lee founding member and drummer of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. In the late 60's he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at a small naval base on the South side of the island of Puerto Rico. I was stationed there as well and along with other musician sailors we formed a band that played all of the military clubs around the island for the duration of our two year assignment there.

Our band the Trilogy playing Fort Allen Naval Com. Station Ponce Puerto Rico 1969.

I can't see that picture without feeling a strong urge to loose a load of weight, get an SG and style myself like a classic Doctor Who. What a career to have lead!

There's some fantastic pics of him from around that time, if I had a TARDIS I'd set the dominoes up for Capaldi to have a lengthy career as an underdog rock hero and then still get to be Doctor Who. Look how cool he was;

Can’t be a hero in a sweater vest. That’s cool though. I love Craig Fergusson.

I find that it's strange I've never met him.

We socialised in the same circles in Glasgow; we grew up in the same part of the same town outside Glasgow; our father's worked together for 30 years and were regular drinking buddies; my kids were at school with his nieces; we even share a couple of ex-girlfriends; his close friend is also a close friend of mine and I also had to cancel a dinner engagement for 12 (health) back in January that he attended.

I've known all of his family well since I was a kid, yet our paths have never crossed.
