Beerware: please use the appropriate glassware...

    At a lecture given by a historian about glass he discussed how the popularity of lager was related to the scientific and industrial revolution and western supremacy the last few hundred years.

    In the East traditionally they excelled at glazing...hence china cups and plates...and old temples were quite dark. No window glass.
    In Europe there was more advanced glassware, which allowed the development of scientific apparatus such as test tubes and beakers...which let science and technology take off the way it did.
    Side issue....traditional brown beers didn't look very nice in pretty glass drinking vessels.
    Lager did....

    Wow, who knew drinking beer was this complicated. I guess I did it wrong in my younger days, I just drank it, lots of it
