https://rockpasta.com/mark-knopfler...l-induction-ceremony-is-absolutely-brilliant/ we all like what we like and, similarly, don't like what we don't like. I don't like halls of fame or 'greatest 100' or things like that. I find they are just counter to what things are all about, but I get that people do need to catalog and categorize. When Dire Straits was 'elected' for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (my least favorite of all halls of fame) Knopfler did the Bartleby the Scrivener thing and just said, 'yeah, thanks, I'd prefer not to.' or like Yossarian he just said, 'I don't wanna' No idea his reasoning, but I dig it. I have had a couple of things the last five years where I just did not do them and it 'puzzled people' and they were 'concerned' and I thought 'stick it' I don't wanna. and when you don't have to, don't do it. Genuine tributes and genuine admiration are awesome... but not a fan of crapola fake people who profit by 'celebrating' achievement while benefitting personally. Saying no to Jann Wenner type people is a win.
