    ganbatte!

I have TWO guitars that aren't wired up right; at a certain point, I just stuck a spork in it and called 'em done. Of course, that is not an option on a brainy momento...

Right! I don't wanna let Rob down either. I'm going out to play around in the world, I'll try to find a spdt switch to try later today... Oh ya. Unplug the soldering iron...

You could just wire up a patch panel and make up about a dozen jumpers. Makes it very easy to visualize the circuit that way...

EDIT: it just occurred to me that about now, while futzing with the wiring, Brainy would have noticed something he didn't like about the finish, and next post, the guitar would be sanded bare, ready for another try. Not suggesting this for you, of course.

That switch arrangement gives you either coil alone, or both coils in series... but not both coils in parallel.

In the center OFF position, neither of the outside terminals are connected to the center common terminal.

Do you know if the middle position being labeled as 'off' vs. 'on' has any bearing on what I am trying to accomplish here?

Thanks man but I'm Currently not interested in parallel.

    Hey CJ,
The diagram Jim showed before put the coils in parallel for humbucking mode. This is like normal Tele switching but a 4 way allows for series as well.

Also, there is a famous guy in some of the other forums called Deaf Eddie. He is a wiring guru. I'm going to take a look now.

    Yes, absolutely...

ON-OFF-ON means that the middle position has the common terminal (center) completely disconnected from the other two terminals.

ON-ON-ON means that the common terminals are connected when in the center position. If you look back at my first diagram, you can see that as you move the toggle from top to bottom, it goes from top 2 terminals connected to common... to one-top-and-one-bottom terminal connected to common... to bottom 2 terminals connected to common.

Make yer life easier, get a SPDT on-off-on switch and wire it like the diagram you posted. Save the Unicorn switch for something later.

EDIT-posted the wrong switch designation. Changed it--it's right now.
