    I haven't met a Deering I ever liked enough to purchase. I think their "Goodtime" is the best entry-level one out there. Solidly built, easy to set up and they sound good, esp for clawhammer style.

    Deering does a lot of advertising and puts their product out there as contest winnings, etc. Visibility sells.

    The boutique market is swollen with overpriced banjos...and the collectors market is diving.

    Once we get the number of banjo manufacturers down to 0, we'll be getting somewhere.

    The Banjo and Mandolin are two instruments i'd love to play. Maybe if I ever get to retire and have more free time i'll take them up.
