Sorry for defiling your thread. Was this an heirloom to be passed on to your descendants? :)

No but I just grew tired of it. Yes Van Halen with DLR was different from Van Halen with Sammy and different from Van Halen with Gary but they are still the SAME band all along.

Heck if you want to go that route, why haven't you named Jefferson Airplane? Oh right, because they actually CHANGED their name when their line up and music changed, first to Jefferson Starship and later Starship.

Both bands who were called The Centimeters came to be literally a world apart from the other and a decade between them.

Looks to me like somebody flunked Geography in high school. Ain't no way you'd see China there.

I never said he was in the Mission. Doesn't matter if Mission was a side project, he claimed the name and forced them to change it. And it also doesn't matter if they only had to use UK in the USA. They had the same name and to keep it they had to change/alter it.

The English Beat was always the Beat in the UK. What's your point? Both bands had to tweak their names to sell records and tour in the US.

I don't think you can include Dread Zeppelin. They used that name because they played Zeppelin songs in reggae and also did Elvis songs withan Elvis impersonator. They were more or less a weird cover band.
And Lez Zeppelin is a tribute band.

Don't forget that there was an English band called The Birds with a certain Mr R Wood on guitar, often confused with some American hillbilly outfit called The Byrds.

I'm surprised no one said Yes. Even though it was the same band after Steve Howe left. Some didn't get the point of the thread. Different bands with the same name. Not one person leaving the band. Hell may as well include Black Sabbath again with all the singers they've had...lol

Back in the late '60s there were two UK bands on the Birmingham gig circuit called Earth. One played pop and Motown covers and the other loud and heavy blues rock. To save future misunderstandings, the proto metal band changed their name to... Black Sabbath.

Back in the late '50's the original name for The Shadows was The Drifters. They had to change their name as there was apparently already a band in the States called The Drifters.

Finnish band HIM had to change their name to HER on an american label as there already was a HIM band touring US.

The Prodigy was originally called The Dust Brothers in the late 80s early 90s, but had to change to avoid confusion with the original Dust Brothers.
