Having decided that what the UK needs right now is a kickin' contemporary country band, I've put one together and started rehearsals/auditions.

Now for the tricky part - finding a name. Looking for suggestions from the good folks of TDPRI.

We're going to be playing a pretty wide range of stuff, from The Band Perry, Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown through to Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw and even, gulp, Taylor Swift (we have to make a living!) Possibly a couple of originals too.

You guys are a pretty creative bunch - any band name suggestions?

A landmark is always a good thing to name a band after, some in my area of the US that have been used are Bush River, Ricketts Mill, Gunpowder Falls, Stoney Creek. Good luck with your search.

Lol - some "interesting" suggestions ;-)

I like the landmark idea but not sure what landmarks around here would be country enough? The Stonehenge Strutters? Isambard Kingdom Brunel and the Clifton Suspension Bridges? ;-)

It's hard being a cowboy in Bristol!

    Bristol Cowboy.
Oh wait - Van already used that.
Bristol Benders - see what I did there? You got the inside joke of B Benders - which nobody will get and the juvenile reference to binge drinking AND Leo Fender is cockney rhyming for Bender - which also means quiff.
So there you go. And good luck with that.
    ;)

I always like how they put their heads together, for about five minutes, and came up with a name for a British chain that rips of KFC: namely, Kansas Fried Chicken:

Yeah, then even more downmarket chicken restaurants started using other random States that don't even have a K - I swear there used to be fried chicken shop in Putney called Wisconsin Fried Chicken.

They done ran out of K states.

Group name: "County Line". There are all these country songs about crossing the county line: what's up with that? It sounds exotic to me, because my province isn't divided into counties, just "regional districts", which doesn't sound anywhere as interesting.

Lol - I like the Bed Ministers! I'm the only one in the band from Bristol though - the rest are from all over the place and I'm not sure anyone would get that when we are playing in Norfolk!

Song lyrics from your fav choons are a possible good source for band names.

    UK Country.
    Southwest UK.
Since Bristol is in the Southwest part of England, and the American Southwest is often prevalent in Country Music, can we make some correlation there?

Maybe it should reference America since that’s what all the music will be. Something like Dakota or Cripple Creek, etc. Sidewinder, Fireboard, The Fixin’s, Toad Holler.

    Hi John!
For a band name, why not choose a BAND song title, e.g:

    Dixie Down
    Jawbone
    King Harvest
    The Weight

I see Cripple Creek has already been suggested, but that one might hit Political Correctness problems...
