    Hi,
So I'm borrowing a Baja tele and digging it. That said, I've played a '79 Les Paul Standard for years. So different.

Now I'm wondering what the "Baja Tele" version of a Strat is. I'm speaking in terms of rave reviews, tone and best bang for the buck ($500-600 used). Thanks!

Robert Cray Strat for me. Hardtail bridge, chunky neck, custom/vintage pickups. Love it :)

I'm a big fan of the Jimmy Vaughan Strat. The neck is fatter than any other mexican strat and used they should fall right in your price range.

In that price range you can probably get a US Series or Standard used. But right now GC and Musicians Friend are running all kinds of sales. A new Highway One is $699 HSS or $729 SSS, with $100 discount brings it just about in your range.

The soul of the Baja is the Twisted-Tele neck pick-up (my opinion), so as of right now, there is no equavilant Strat. Why would you even need a Strat if you already have the Baja and an LP?

+ 1. The JV Strat is a fine instrument. I swapped out the pickups on mine, but the standard pickups sound great.

The 'Baja' versions of the strat are the classic player 50s and 60s strats. Both are amazing guitars, custom shop designed and Mexican built, just like the Baja. I tried both, preferred the 50s and bought it there and then. And I went for a tele!

Classic Player 50's. Great pickups, great neck and a pretty good bargain.

Agreed. I picked up my 50's Classic Player at my local GC used for $340.00. I stole it.
