I bought a Fender Baja Telecaster Neck (maple fingerboard) yesterday.

I have a old Squier Standard Tele and my question is:
will the Baja Neck fit on the Squier Body?

If it was a Classic Vibe Body? Absolutely.
My #1 is an Indonesian Squier Standard an I’ve never
considered changing as the neck with 11’s is as good as out there - fast, great medium jumbos, comfortable.

When I originally ordered Her I considered getting a set
Of Joe Barden’s. I’m so glad TODAY that She’s totally original. BTW, Rosewood Fretboard too. Whoever the luthier/NC Operator is, they were really on their game.

    It's an Indonesian Standard.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to try it than ask people on here? I am sure it will, but who can really know until you do those 4 screws?

I have a Baja 50's neck on what I think is a Squier body. I bought the loaded body on the Bay of Fleas and the seller only suspected it to be a Squier, but I think he's right.

Speaking of right, @Piggy Stu is right - try it and find out for yourself and then you'll be certain.

If you described this combo to me, I would say I don't think I would like it, but when I see it, it looks great

I hear ya and thought the same. It originally had a Warmoth neck with a r/w board and when I decided to swap some parts around I thought a maple fretboard neck would look odd. But I made the swap and I really like what I ended up with.

19 times out of 20, it will fit well enough.

That's the way I see it. Even two MIA Standards, swapping two USA necks between them, your odds are real favorable but sometimes things fall short. MII body/MIM neck is more likely to be loose, than tight, and that's perfect IMO.

Your big issue with that Indonesia Squier Standard (variant) is, the bridge and bridge pickup ain't great. The can be modded, but it is a fair amount of work. The rout for your bridge pickup is a little different than the North American guitars.

I've swapped lots of necks on fender guitars, squiers, MIM, USA, it should fit fine. Probably wont be a custom shop snug fit but that doesn't matter much.

One thing I forgot. Your Squier is a 22 fret neck and I believe a Baja is 21 frets, so you wont have the overhang. This shouldn't be a problem but is more visible with the 21 fret neck. Hopefully the neck heels are similar in shape. In theory they should be.

    Right.

The lip on the Indonesian 22 fret necks is thin enough, that it shouldn't have necessitated any changes to the body like the Korean Lite Ash models had. The Indonesian neck trends just a hair wider, like a MIJ neck will, but the specifications of a MIM or MIA body are usually loose enough that it won't matter. When you do the opposite and pair a MIM neck to the ever so slightly wider Indonesian pocket, the added gap is just of no moment to me on maybe 95% of trials. And when Arranged Marriages of necks and loaded bodies goes wrong, it is usually a multiplicity of factors - not just one.

    Thanks for the replies.

I decided to built a partcaster (Esquire) with the neck.
Yesterday i ordered an unfinished alder Body.
I will show the progress in a new thread.

    You chose well.

Nothing to contribute other than I think the Baja neck is my favorite Tele neck. It’s perfect. I put one on a CV50s and it transformed the guitar from good to great (playability and tone, actually).
