Baja's are 3 piece bodies? I've tried very hard but can't find more than 2 pieces on mine (an '06 one). And they're matched so well that the top and back look like a one piece, it's just at the end where I can see a small seam.

Yeah the tele has some awesome benefits-I also love how fat the neck pup is, and the harmonics are great.

I've seen 2, 3 and 4 piece Baja bodies. Wouldn't be totally surprised to find a fiver. The best device is to read for a seam through the poly. But this works much better on alder bodies than on ash ones. It may take a few years before all the seams start telegraphing and given how thick the poly can be, some may not be known for 10 years I would bet.

But. Sincerely, how much does it matter so long as it is handsome? :)

Wow, so I've had her about a week now. I had GAS'd for a Tele the longest time. What an amazing guitar! This Baja is so versatile. Everything from vintage rock, classic country, to modern rock sounds great. I'd never thought I'd ever say that there is a guitar out there that competes with a Strat, but the range of tones offered by the 4-way switching is EXTREME!

    Nice!

Does any vendor make a metal S-1 knob? The ones that are on the Baja seem so plastic to me.

adjusted my pickups today and saw what i wish wasnt real.

(put the bridge-pu to 2.4mm/0,09"; much more output, but the amp is in the rehearsal room, so i dont know how itll sound on the tube. but i guess itll be too much, since guitarpro distorts. what are your distances for each pu (last fret pulled down)?)

    however,

all the time i thought "ah cummon, this poly finish has sunblocker, but the desert sand will become a nice caramel, like what its coloured when youre on a dark stage"... yeah, forget it.

    look at the pic:

bye bye caramel, hello vintage white!

in 4 weeks its one year since i found her; bought new in box. 6 or seven gigs, smoker, evrytime outta the gig-bag, regular bulbs in my rooms.

    Gorgeous.

But I am betting that guitar is not intonated right, out of the box. Those saddles are each gonna have to come down a ways, with the E-A saddle leg for instance being on or nearly on the mount screw.

Sorry. Reflexes. Never could leave a guitar alone if an easy fix caught my eye! :D

I've tended to keep mine in the cases for this reason.

The color is just never gonna be the #1 selling feature on these Desert Sands.

I have a lefthanded way of consoling myself: If the color was more pleasing to the eye, then I'd be grousing about how thick the poly finish was. I just look at how dark the maple is getting and just get on with playing them! :)

dont get me wrong, i actually like the desert sand colour; otherwise id chosen the bsb. though a bsb with a white pickguard... however; the guitar`s gonna choose her way to dress, and iam (or have to be) satisfied with it. we know it from the women, dont we?

You are right, It needed to be intonated, even though I am pretty sure Sweetwater claims they do a setup on guitars before they are shipped.

I'm in with a sunburst. It's a three piece nicely-matched body and here's the only half-competent pic that I've been able to take so far:

I posted a pic of my 2010 BSB Baja sometime last year, and it is a hefty chunk alright.

However, I saw a new sunburst Baja in Windows, Newcastle yesterday and could not resist having a go.

Very pretty burst, but very, very heavy. Quite a bit heavier still than my own BSB.

    MX11053553
What a great guitar....Quiet heavy after playing always my "inspired by" Casino...
    My Baja weights 8,1571.
    Is this heavy?
By the way how high or low do you set your pickups on your Baja?Pics?

I set mine about halfway between flat and the strings, but I can't say I have any strong reason for that. What I will say, however, is that you should set them relative to each other in such a way that the 4th toggle position (closet to the neck) is balanced to your ears. The 4th position has become my go-to sound on the guitar, but only after I got the right ratio of bridge to neck.

Just ordered some parts to do a 2nd "electric assembly"...
    I don't really like/need the S-1 switch, but i love the 4way switch!
So i thought to get it easily back to "stock" i'll solder a 2nd assembly....

    So i ordered:

    -Fender controlplat
    -Fender American Tele knobs
    -Fender/CRL 4way switch
    -Fender/CTS pots
    -Allparts Switchcraft jack
    -cloth wire
-Orange Drop tone caps - 1x 0.1 -1x 0.047(quite not sure which one i'll use...)

That was one thing i was missing with my Casino, no more soldering...now i can fire it up again...:lol::lol:

Try the .047. I would have suggested maybe .033 and .022 caps.
