Isn t the S1 the phase switch ? You seem to be about the 4 way. Yeah , the 4 way is wired wrong IMO. Neck and Bridge should be in their normal places at the 2 ends.

I've often heard left handed players bemoaning the fact that the finish colours they can choose from are always the same, so I hope this time they've at least one or two different and cool options.

Just to throw some extra confusion into the picture, the U.K. Fender site still has all the Classic series including the Baja (original and 60s). No doubt if they’ve been pulled from the US site they will vanish soon over here too (probably giving a bit more time for EU distribution to run stocks down before its officially killed off).

That's exactly the conclusion arrived at shortly after buying the guitar.

I'm a bit confused too. The US website still includes the Classic line including a Classic Player Baja. They've just sort of modified the model groupings a little.

The Fender website will continue to show the Classic series in navigation and various models in search results until they update with the new Vintera series. I expect at that point you’ll see the site navigation and categorization get updated immediately, though I would not be surprised if several of the Classic series models remain searchable on the website for a while.

It’s been pretty clear over the past few years that Fender is systematically updating and renaming each of their series groupings — one by one, timed along with the NAMM trade shows:

    Jan 2016:
    American Elite
    (Replaces American Deluxe)

    Jan 2017:
    American Professional
    (Replaces American Standard)

    Jan 2018:
    American Original
    (Replaces American Vintage)

    Jun 2018:
    Player
    (Replaces Standard)

    Dec 2018:
    American Performer
    (Replaces American Special)

    Jun/Jul 2019:
    Vintera
    (Replaces Classic/Classic Player)

    Dec 2019/Jan 2020
    ???
    (Replaces Deluxe? Road Worn?)

Excited to see and hear these when they officially release, even if the series name makes me roll my eyes.

The tariffs aren't applied to everything. I need someone to point me to an actual source for the list of what's affected by the tariffs.
6/22/19 there is no Baja under the Classic line. It can be found with a search, but it’s not in stock.

That name just confuses me. I don't think any Fender series has ever made me scratch my head but Vintera could be a startup tech firm in Silicon Valley as opposed to a Fender series. The could have gone with something like Modern Classic and I would have understood what they were talking about better.

The 50s Baja neck is a thing of beauty.

Oh I don't doubt you and it's not very important but still, curious. I continue to get the The Classic Player Baja under "Classic".

Nothing lasts, of course. I'll be interested to see if Fender continue with the switching, in some of their new ranges and whether they extend the number of guitars getting fatter profile necks- perhaps whether the pickup combination continues to appear, in mid range instruments? The features that endeared the Baja guitars to us should be continued- in one form or another. The development of the AO series is a great compliment to the success of the original Baja concept. I just hope those ideas will still be available, at a lower price point.

Actually the American Elite isn't a new series; it replaced the American Deluxe series.

That was me - typo of "2916" instead of "2016"; didn't catch it and change it until after you quoted me.:(

    Nice try but wrong.
All of the major guitar companies have been moving production from China to Indonesia for a few years.

Good catch. I was just looking at all the press releases and didn’t see mention of an outgoing series it replaces.

Interesting. Clear your browser cache, and reload the page, and it might disappear.
