So I ordered a Baha tele (blonde) from Long and McQuade (Canadian chain) back in April. They ordered directly from Fender. The factory kept pushing back the delivery date several times until they canceled the order last week altogether saying that the baja is now discontinued. I was so gutted. I was confused, so I called Fender and they confirmed it. Apparently it is being replaced/rebranded soon. I was super disappointed. I managed to buy one from Reverb, I hope it is a decent baja. I’m also a little scared of the possible brokerage fees buying from the states.

It's a small local store. They probably don't do a lot of online stuff.

In any case you got yours already, so that's cool. All you hoped it would be?

Strange move, it has been one their best instruments for a few years now. I wonder what the new design will be....maybe all the things that I changed already (comp brass saddles, electro-socket, better pickguard, and a traditional 3 way switch)?

Hopefully the neck will not disappear anytime soon.

I was lucky, so I am among those who received the last batch.

I’m impressed the Baja had such a long run. It was such a phenomenal value that I’m kind of surprised Fender let it hang around as long as they did.

Happy to own one, it’s all I’ll ever want or need in a Telecaster.

I’ve been guessing Fender will consolidate their Classic and Classic Player series models into a new updated lineup at NAMM next month and this would seem to hint at that as well...

I think they're worried because they found out that Gibson used the name Bajia on a guitar in 1947. Nobody likes a lawsuit.

The guy I spoke to at Fender said the baja’s ‘Replacement’ will be announced at NAMM, yup.

Fender's seems to be doing a lot of restructuring lately. The Am Std to Am Pro, Am Special to Am Performer, MIM Standard to Player Series, and with Squier, the VMs folded into the CV line, and the Chinese made CV series being replaced by Indonesian made ones. I'm still not sure about the Squier moves, But I like the Am Pro better than the Std, the Am Performer is my Favorite Stat ever, and the Player is a definite step up from the Mexican Standard. So, it's not just change for change sake, but actual improvements IMO.

Will be interesting to see what comes next. I hope in any case they keep that neck for a model.

I'm glad to have my desert sand baja that's been out of production for a few years now.
My only tele, still my main guitar (despite a strat and LP nipping et the heels), and after a pickup swap and dropping the s1, the only tele I'll ever need.

    .

They can scatter the features around, chunky neck options and 4-way switches for all...

I've heard of more players swapping out the S1 switch than using it. So deleting that with a price bump is my bet for most likely.
