    My parents and all the parents of my peers were sticklers for proper grammar and were instantaneous with corrections. My Sister still corrects me. I really think that The Boomers got a leg up because we were lucky enough to have parents who were PARENTS and not Best Friends. That came much later.

    For colloquial, both are fine.

    I wouldn't use "real" or "really" for better English anyway in that context.
