bad candidate for sunburst?

    so I think I know the answer to this but would you agree that this is a bad candidate for a sunburst finish? tele ash .jpg

    Depends on how you do the 'burst. I was once told that Gibson uses sunbursts to cover up bad wood. If you do a 'burst you will definitely be doing it with finish rather than stain - I don't think you could control stain at all here.

    I’d burst it but I also like the sunburst that has a yellow stain base and then an almost solid yellow

    Also known as the “target burst” and used by fender in the 60’s

    My A.O 60’s is three pieces just like that and looks fine

    You’d just have to use the right colors

    I'm pretty sure I'd go with a solid color on that one but certainly your call.

    If you make the whole thing pretty opaque it should be fine. It is pretty stripey

    You could do a hippie sandwich finish and lightly burst (perhaps in brown), mainly to cover up that strip on the right.
