Great tune - worked on it last year some after watching one of the "Studio Jams" sessions on YT. Hope to be back with a track later.
Thank you Mr. Caster, Thank you Mr Zawinul, excellent.
Mercy Mercy Mercy cover
So nice and laid back, like the jam in the park after the BBQ.
Now I'm hungry.
I like your more laid back approach. This is a more relaxed version than Cannonball's, I had to play through it a few times to get the bt groove going because Cannonball's version is forever etched in my brain. Cannonball's version is a bit more edgy. You did it good.
It's good to hear the masters play this, Zawinul on piano, Cannonball on sax, man what a great band. I first heard this on the cool pop stations back in the SF Bay Area in the 60s. It got played on the top 10 kind of radio stations playing it out to all the young folk all over the country like me, followed by the world (I hope). Music was soooo ripe back then, hasn't been matched.
This is how they did it
Yeah it’s a little slower. One of my favorites for sure.
Thanks for the cool backing. Here's a take. Strat->Axe I/O->AmpliTube4->Reaper
Here's to a good Friday night jam. (More or less following the head here for a while - I can't resist!)
@ASATKat Great take - lots of style and variations
@Mjark Nice and laid back. Chillin' out here.
@Alan L Cole I like your tone here a lot, and a fun take.
Great tone and nice touch.
Good morning! Have been to my first vaccination yesterday, feeling a lot more secure now. Just a very little pain at the point of injection and a very little pressure in the head. Well, to the track: of course, I guess it´s a well known piece of music that I again don´t know, so I just played what came to my mind. And of course, I can´t play jazz at all! MM St Vincent, Mesa Express clean mode.
@ASATKat : listening to you, sounds familiar. Well played, Sir! Dig the pickup change.
@Mjark : great sound and feeling
@Alan L Cole : I am astonished how you made something complete different out of this.
@SRHmusic : lovely version, nice guitar sound and an interesting strong blues mood.
@ASATKat - Well verse take from the chordal to the soloing, I think you nailed it.
@Mjark - Very smooth and laid back take.Sounds very good to the original.
@Alan L Cole -Lovely spin on your version, Alan.Melodic and tasty playing.
@SRHmusic - Sounds true to the classic song. Very nicely done.
@udoering - A very nice version with a lovely tone . I was also immunized this week and my shoulder was very tender for the first 24 hours.
Vela neck pickup - Evo1 DI
Thanks for the nice Backing Track
That is very nice Ullrich. Beautiful tone and nice use of delay. Great bluesy phrasing and dynamics. I like that you played it in your own voice and as your own version. Nice!
At first I was gonna call this "Homage to Yngwie". (joke)
A slow one like this, I find it challenging to 1) keep my time dead steady 2) restrain my "too many notes" tendency.
If you don't know the playing of Cornell Dupree (1942-2011), definitely check him out - I was trying to play like him. Master of R&B guitar, he played with King Curtis, Aretha, Donny Hathaway, et al. on hundreds of recordings. One of the founders of the band Stuff, which I saw in a club in NYC in the early 80s. (Steve Gadd was the regular drummer, but he sent a sub that night, Bernard Purdie. Wow!)
I know the theme but am more familiar with the snippets found in songs like 'New age'by the Velvet Underground. Tried to learn some of the original song before recording.
I'm a couple weeks from my 2nd shot. I hear it will be worse =/
Yeah, anywhere from nothing to a day of feeling flu like. But it means it's workin', getting ready to fight the real thing. Hope it goes well.
Great tracks, everybody!
@udoering Very nice all around, playing, ideas and tone. Well done.
@Thoughtfree I like your playing on this a lot, the different phrasing, etc. I definitely have to check out more Cornell Dupree! Thanks for the info on him.
