@Mellencaster : grandchildren and recording - difficult indeed! Despite of that, you delivered a nice rock´n roll version. Lovely guitar sound!
@JCL50 : Tele bridge pickup sounded like country, but your sound is more like rock. Your track is really a mix of the two genres.
@bgmacaw : don´t know if any of us is really happy with his version, but you tried and posted it. You have developed a theme and vary it. Nice fat sound.

When I was learning to play I admired Jerry Garcia. I was no Deadhead (only saw them once) but I liked his fast double picking and his free flowing, on the fly, improvisation, often in modal scales. Now, these many decades later, I think I am still trying to do that, so 60's is right on.

I felt like the quick IV was more intimidating than the tempo but you did well.

    - You rolled right over the "Country" to make something else sort dark and mysterious.

Slide! Nice balance between slide and fretted licks.

    - Happy Take! Guitar sits well in the mix.

    - That voice you choose mellows the Tele bridge in a very pleasant manner.

    - Let it burn!

    - I would have choosen one guitar track, probably the first one with a little sting. They're booth good but overwhelm a bit together.

    - More slide! I works best when the other guitar isn't present. Nice double stops.

    - Doesn't like they were a hindrance. Really cool lick on the low strings around 00:35

    - Cool hammer ons, bends and pull offs with that saturated tone.

    - I think Miles Davis said if the tempo is fast, play slow! That said, nothing wrong here.

Ha ha, I'm no Brent Mason, but I can fake play some Dave Mason.

Hmm, I think I'll listen to Dave this morning. Great morning music.

For me the difficulty was when it went to the V chord for one bar, the the iV, and then the V again. I heard the first part as a sort of really fast "In the Midnight Hour" so in the B part I kind of expected it to go back and forth between the V and the IV and land on the IV. And of course the tempo means that the mind has to improvise really fast or just let the fingers go where they always go. The first approach is a recipe for clams (but maybe happy accidents) and the second is the path to well-grooved ruts and banality. However, overcoming such difficulties leads to growth and that is really what these backing tracks are about. It was cool.

Hello fellas and Happy New Year. Here's my first "participation track" of the year. Been kinda busy lately but going to try and get back into this here on the forum and have some fun with these tracks. The more I listened to this thinking of ideas, the more that Dwight Yoakam vibe was hitting me, so here's a little Country-billy-bakersfield-tonk inspired jam - warts and all!

Same ol' '69RI and Fralin Blues Special Bridge and a modeled Blackface DR

@udoering - Wonderful tone and interesting interplay throughout. Lots of variation. Never loses interest.
@Mellencaster - My four-month old grandson likes it when I play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." That gets a big smile. That is the number one song on his hit parade. You just have to choose the material to fit the audience. Your track makes me smile, but my grandson isn't a country rock fan yet. Probably your grandkids aren't either. They'll get there.
@JCL50 - Lots of good ideas here, mixed in well. Nice tone too.
@bgmacaw - Interesting staccato phrasing on this, though the tone can sing when it wants to.

The only musical part that they like is playing with my guitars, my 4 year old granddaughter will strum while I chord the guitar for her and sing Old MacDonald Had A Farm. She had issues that her 7 year old brother didn't want to watch animated Barbie tv show with her :D
