Been some time since I read or posted anything here...but today I'm working on a Tele build (after many other style builds) so its nice to get back to the roots where I started this journey 7 yrs ago.
One of my fav Tele's is a semi hollow Fir with a flame maple top and birdseye neck. Lollar pups royal T neck and J st. bridge are my fav combo of pups so far for a Tele. Decided to do another semi hollow Fir...this is what I got so far.

Wow, love it. Great flame! Love the fretboard inlaid into the neck look.

    Look forward to seeing more!

Oh sweet, Love the Flame/Quilt top on the QS Fir, that will be a sweet combo. That neck is sharp too.

had a set of gold tuners laying around, so going with gold hardware. Was thinking of dying top black and sanding back...then a dark midnight blue leaving nat masked binding ...maybe a trans black body...just don't know...with color of neck..red would probably work better...open to suggestions.

Wow! That's looking cool. How'd You do that? Also, how did you do the neck? It looks like the fretboard has been inlaid!

    So far, so good! :)

I love finding single pieces of wood that are good enough for guitar bodies, and that piece of fir looks like a real beauty.

The depth and vibrancy of your blue dye job is amazing!

    Best Regards,
    Geo.

You have a sharp eye..yes the FB center has been inset..saw the Fender channel bound and had to do it..beautiful design.
    Template center and neck shape
Choose neck lumber, prep and rout center first...then rout neck around it.

That is so cool. Haven't seen it done like that before. What's the fretboard wood?

Masked binding didnt go well with top and back..covered in black instead...better.
Will be making another maple neck for it..colors dont go well with channel bound one..
Starting a flame maple back with plain maple FB neck...

Around here we call it the curse of the blue guitar. Roger C is well versed.

Looks awesome. Remember the issue and how we fix them is what gives the instrument MOJO!
