So, I had to sell my American tele about 31-ish years ago, for rent money when I was a starving student. I have always regretted it, and just a year later, when I finally graduated, I bought myself a Strat Plus to make up for it. I never did get around to replacing my Telecaster, but I finally did today. I've been reading about the Ultra, and pulled the trigger last week, after saving up all summer. It arrived today. By God, what a great instrument! The fit and finish were top notch, and I simply cannot say how much I love the neck profile on this thing. The satin finish is silky as heck, and the rolled edges, combined with that gentle compound radius and thinner 'Modern D" profile - well, I just keep picking it up to play something, because it's so comfortable. I've never played any other guitar with a neck I enjoyed this much. Phenomenal. The color is super sexy. I've watched every single video on YouTube I could find, and loved the Texas Tea colorway. The greens and golds reflected in the sunlight, just wow. I've never owned another guitar with binding, and I must say, it's really sharp looking, too. I think it sounds great, and I love the noiseless pickups. Of course, I'm used to it, as I've always loved the gold Lace sensors in my Strat Plus, so it isn't really a change for me at all. The S-1 switch makes for a nice beefy tone in the middle position, so I'm enjoying that. It's just really nice to be back in the Telecaster club again. And I honestly don't think I've ever picked up a guitar I enjoy playing as much as this Ultra. It sure wasn't cheap, but for me, so worth it. It's a fantastic instrument.
