Even closer, I got it at GC in Braintree!
Some guys have all the luck!
So compared to your maple neck Tele's how does the Rosewood sound tonely versus those?
Love it! I want a Sonic or Daphne blue tele one day.
It's not an apples to apples comparison unless the guitars were identical. All three have different pickups which have more to do with the tonal differences than rosewood vs. maple or ash vs. alder. I'm of the opinion that choice of wood has very little, if nothing, to do with tone in an electric guitar. Acoustic yes, but not electric (IMHO). That said, compared to my AV'52 tele, I would say the Baja sounds a bit warmer in the treble position. That's probably due to the variation between the AV'58 pu in the Baja vs the AV'52. They both sound very similar in the neck position since they both have the same '52 pu in the neck. I really like the "nasally" sounds I can get with the S-1 switch in the Baja, which is completely different than anything I can get with the other two. My sunburst tele has Lindy Fralin Blues Specials which sound "ballsier" than the other two, if that makes sense. I have a Les Paul, 2 strats and an Epiphone Elitist Casino with rosewood boards. The baja rosewood is much darker and almost looks like ebony compared to those.
Not to get too far off topic since this is a tele forum, but my son recently made me a Strat that he 3-D printed out of an ABS type plastic. It has all Fender reissue parts and '57/62 pickups. Bottom line is that it still sounds like a Strat even though it is not made of wood. Here is a link to a YouTube video if anyone is interested;
Well, at least you got your strings.
That is a nice guitar. Looks like a pretty good score. Enjoy.
That's literally not fair. It's the only GC I ever set foot in because it's a mere 20 minutes away and they had the one Tele I've been hoping to find!
I do know of one down in RI, not sure if I'll get to play it before he sells it. I don't even want to buy one right now, I just want to know if it's really in the ballpark of what I have in my head. Kudos on the score (in my own backyard!).
Love it, I would've pulled the trigger too.
