Maybe I'm just a resentful soul or perhaps too proud to admit vulnerability.
Possibly the prolific use of angelic names throughout all generations of males in my family.

I realised I love the Avenging Angel genre of movies most of all, after having that great feeling when I rewatched "Black 47" this evening.

I think it started when I was a kid and these type of movies came on TV (too young for the cinema versions).
I'm not sure whether it was "Chato's Land", "The Outlaw Josie Wales" or "Death Wish" that got me started, maybe all three.

I love seeing injustice avenged on the screen.

Apart from the Superhero genre there seems to be a dearth of them these days, the last good ones I remember were the two "Equaliser" movies and the final "Rambo".

I don't have a favourite, just the genre in general, so I'd appreciate any recommendations of any recent ones that have hit the screen that I may have missed.

Have you seen "Point Blank"? The star probably killed a few people in real life before being wounded on Saipan, one of six of the 247 men in his unit who weren't killed. The way he walks down the corridor at LAX says it all.

Just downloaded it from the Internet Archive.
Thanks, I'm grateful.

The Korean film industry does revenge really well...
Oldboy (my favourite)
Sympathy For Mr Vengeance
Lady Vengeance
A Bittersweet Life
I Saw the Devil.

But then again so do we...

Get Carter remains one of those movies where I'll stop everything to watch, even if it's just a clip.
The locations and the soundtrack are great, as is one of my favourite MC lines... "You're a big man but you're in bad shape".
I wasn't aware there was a 4K version, thanks for the heads up.

The first one with Dick Shawn (his real name. STOP LAUGHING!) was better.

I remember the video box for the first "Angel" very well from my time as a video store clerk, but I didn't watch it until recently. It's entertaining cheese. It has an added appeal to me because it reminds me of the L.A. I moved to in the '80s.
