I sold an amp yesterday that I bought new in 1990, it has been brilliant, 100 watt Fender “The Twin” unfortunately at my age I could no longer lift it into the car and it wasn’t getting much use as I also have the same amp in a head unit with separate speaker cabinet. I was gutted but the new owner will give it plenty of use and like me he looks after his gear.

FYI, Coleman's Music (Melbourne) just announced a snap 24%-off sale on all in-stock items for 24 hours (ie nominally 1 March but it seems to be working right now).

. . . new Epiphone '59 Les Paul Standard on the way. List $2200, sale price $1150 delivered. Last time I checked, I couldn't find a used one for that.

I got over it by ordering an Artist Tweedtone 20R, $649 delivered.

You won't regret it, they are a great amp. Once the speaker is run in the you'll find that the tonal variation you can get out of it is incredible.
how long does it take to run the speaker in? Am I supposed to take it easy volume wise until it is run in?

A couple of hours playing at reasonable volumes seems to take the stiffness out of the cone. For a 20W it is pretty loud, even though it only goes up to ten. :) Only problem I have had with my Tweedtone which is one of the first ones Artist made is the LED power light died. No power light does not mean no power though so I kept using it for a few weeks until I put a conventional bulb in instead of the LED.

Thanks, it is threatened to arrive on 17th.of the month, Getting loud is no problem. I believe they have superseded it with a newer version.

Finally got the amp. Surprised at how “big” a sound it puts out, as my neighbours are no doubt aware of now. Handles my pedal board very well.

I tried my new Artist Tweedtone 20 in a band situation, it really delivers, I am so impressed with it. The overdrive has a wide range from just breaking up to don't need a distort pedal at all. If anyone is in the market for a new amp have a listen to one of these, there are several reviews on youtube.

I alternate betwen my Tweedtone 20R and Hot Rod Deluxe 4, the former tends to win out when I don't feel like lugging around the HRD. The Tweedtone is a bit brighter than the HRD and even though half the wattage can hold it's own against the HRD. :) I've also got the 20R's little brother the TweedToneV, great little blues amp and when micced through a PA it sounds terrific. What's more it's much lighter than the other two which is even easier on my 75 year old physique.
