Up in the hills to the west of rocky... Mt Morgan looking east toward Rockhampton with that beach about 10K's the other side of that short ridge.. where Yeppon is..

Rocky is a decent sized town now, all the big shops/retailers/hardwares are there in big places...looks like a busy place...a huge Beef town as well...

Old mate Bill stopped by for a few days to work on a song with me and record it... before we went to Rocky...

we just started playing soon after we woke up.. before the jug was on for coffee...

I learned the run by watching his chords, it wasn't written down... he kept throwing in an odd Em now and then I kept missing for a while on the Bass... he played a few guitars and chose my cream tele with noiseless pus with a squier neck... he just loved the neck/sound...he's more of a country picker..

He intends to get his nephew/daughter/grandkids to sing the final version... we just played it for a good while so I could get a bassline down, his voice was a bit scratchy on this one... first time I'd played bass for months as well....

Heya, Trev, good times among good friends - if anything useful comes of #2020, it'll be from occasions like this.

Found out on Wednesday that together with my band mates we have had a number of songs shortlisted in 5 categories in the indie songwriting competition.

Top 30 in each group announced in November and then top 10 and winners at the annual dinner in the first half of next year

Indie songwriting competition - who runs this?
... are you talking about the Australian Songwriters Assoc. competition? (Your dates seem to coincide.)

That would be the one, I was unaware that we were entered this year as Julie was the one who put the songs forward.

She entered four of her songs in the Lyric section and one or two co-written by the three of us in each of the Australian, Ballad, Country & Open categories, we have at least one song accepted in each category.

The songs entered cover a lot of subject and sonic territory ranging from campfire simplicity to a lush very dark Moody Blues inspired piece about the frailties and sadness of the human condition

Good luck. I've been shortlisted as well: entered 2 x lyrics and 2 x songs ... both songs and one of the lyrics got through the first cull.
So ... may see you at the dinner if it goes well for both of us.

Snake call!!??... o_O.... the birds out front are going off..... better have a look....

the snake was on the veranda at dusk yesterday near the water bowls waiting for a bird.... they all knew he was there....

just now the birds are arcing up outside again....

ahhh, so that's where he hides.. down in that poly ag pipe that goes inside the wall...:D

must have come out for some sun and it was spotted.... I watched it from the veranda for a while then it decided to go back underground....

got you sussed now, fella.... I thought he might be staying up in the roof...

Crikey! old mate the snake did alright last night...o_O

birds woke me up at 5 am outside my window... went out for a look...

here's old mate below my window waiting for some morning sun to warm up.... saw me and started to move slowly under the house... with a huge fat belly....

he did alright last night, finding something substantial..he'll find someplace to sleep now.

they're calling rain for the next few days.... maybe he knew it was coming and stocked up on tucker before finding a dry spot to digest his dinner... ;)
