A bit of info if you need it, I had a string slot that was a tad too low on my tele, (the A string) it is a graphite nut so I didn’t know if the baking soda super glue would work but it appears to have, doesn’t blend as much as a bone nut but will clear up after I do the other slots and can run a file over the length of the nut. Raised it .015” using feeler gauges, pretty accurate, I used them as part of my trade for over 60 years so I’m pretty confident with the measurement.

Thought i would pop my head in and say hi :D

Haven't been able to play or even touch a guitar for a few years, so i havent been around anywhere forum or internet wise. i got pretty ill about 4yrs ago and although still not anywhere near 100% i am gradually working my way back into it.

Weather has been great in Melbourne this past week for soaking up some sun and getting my fingers back into the frets.

    All the best
    Tony

Welcome back to the land of the living Tony, are you still winding or planning to start again.

I'm still loving the Blackguard pups

Hi Dave good to see your still about :D yeah i am probably lucky to still be around, not out of the woods yet but feeling pretty good right now.

Getting back to winding eventually, haven't spun a coil yet, it may take me a few before i get the feel again, glad you like your pups, makes it worthwhile.

I have just been doing the gauss and henries on 2 sets of Dano pickups i have here, 1 set from Duncan the other were on the guitar, not much in them, stripping down some nasty Chinese humbuckers as i like to do, and putting some partscasters together.

    cheers mate

I found some black bean pods down in my gully area where I planted a BB tree 20 yrs ago maybe... it's 10+M tall now... and dozens of small ones about knee high underneath... sweet, a forest of them starting up...:)

first time I've found some bean pods.... maybe the critters get them?...

it is pretty over grown down in rainforest corner... upwards...not much on the ground but sticks/mulch and a small stuff....

as kids, we used to crack open the longer pods, scoop out the pith and large seeds, then race them like boats down the roadside gutters after rain....made the wet walk home from school fun... :)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know where I can get a cheap strat neck that won’t cost a fortune in freight?

    Thanks.

Have a chat to Adam at Pitbull Guitars, prices are good and service 2nd to none.

It will obviously come from China and be an unbranded paddle headstock but unlike the same from eBay you have proper local after sales service.

No affiliation just a happy customer who has built three of their kits

Hi mate, have a look at ace guitar parts. I got a strat neck from them and it’s a very nice neck from Japan

pottering about outside the last couple of days.. weather has been nice...

potted up about a dozen blackbean seeds in a few pots to see if they will sprout, to replant them along my gully bank.... and dug some stairs into a bank...the lower 4 risers...

whew... hard yakka for an old fella, I'm feeling it now...no blisters, fortunately..;)

a few drinks around the fire with the lads as dark fell soothed me somewhat..:)

good timing... finished the bottom part of the stairs and mowed the lawn .... then it drizzled rain the last few days. Sweet...

that should bed the work down nicely and settle the dust......:)

and give me an excuse for a few days off to recover...:D

it was over 20 and drizzly yesterday.... bit of a change overnight.... that's what gets us up here, the sudden drop by half of ambient temp.....

little fibro boxes don't like cold weather... ;)

Oh well that's the price you pay for living in paradise.

I'm off to the Mozzie Mansion (garage) to do some work on the postie bike. Gunna rug up and keep the door down to try and keep some heat in / cold out.

I'm cooking a big pot of chick peas to warm up the kitchen.... nearly 14 now....;)

mossies have been few and far between around here... strangely?... I haven't used a mossie net the last 2 summers....

and cold weather stops our mossies in their tracks....;)
