    You can bolt a transformer into the cabinet. I got a 110v USA amp which has one built in. Works fine. They don’t weigh as much as in the past.

    I converted a blues junior a while ago. Hammond Canada make drop in replacement main power transformers that are a straight swap from 110 to 240v. Check their website to see if they make one for your amp. The wires were even coded correctly on mine. Prior to that I just used a cheap stepdown transformer with no problems.

    I have to drop into this thread more often to get news, I hadn't heard that Bob Hawke had died since I don't watch TV or listen to the radio these days.

    Awesome. Giving up TV would be a blessing. Although I'll keep tolerating some TV rather than give up the missus.

    Yes life is much more enjoyable since giving up watching TV around 7 years ago. Checking the mail box only once a week is also less annoying than doing it daily.

    I have, lately, been giving thought to buying a patch of land on a mountaintop then building a wall around it and locking the gate.

    [Edit: this comment was meant to be part of the 'give up TV, radio, news, etc.' series]

    You do get better TV reception on a mountain top. :)

    Tenterfield's pretty well up there. Closest I ever got was Winegrove / Heifer Station, along the Clarence River. Nice country. It might do. Got a spare mountain top?

    OK thanks for the tip, had a look at the website, and they only have just the generic Fender / Marshall Vox style. If I decide to get a US 110V amp may need a sparky to look at it for me. I probably should learn how to do this myslef one day though....

    Other dilemma I have now, and this is so ridiculously ironic - is that the 3 amp heads I was gassing over for years are ALL available second hand. I need to pick one, soon before I miss out. My gut says take the Vox (though I have a combo HW), but really wanted a Z.... the BadCat is a tasty prospect.

    Always safest to get someone with the right ticket to at least check it over. Insurance companies don't take kindly to "I did it all myself" when something untoward and nasty happens.:)

    Hows the water up your way? Coming up to Noosa for a holiday this weekend, will try my luck at Noosa headland, steamer weather yet?

    Ok thanks, prob boardies & 2mm top be ok.
    I see your from Coolum? Surfed there a few years ago in 4-5 ft, heavy beach breaks. Been a while since Ive ventured out in similar conditions, saw a few guys then come in with broken boards so that was enough to tell me i'm over my head here with a mal.

    Yeah, spent a lot of time in the water around here over the years... plenty of time around Noosa as well...

    hard to get a park on good days, the whole coastal strip is busy these days . Plenty of beach breaks to get away from the crowds though..

    a spring suit with short arms is my all round wetsuit here .. and nice dry shorts on the beach... that way you only have one wet thing in the car... ;)

    I've got a 2mm steamer I used a few times, but I don't think it fits anymore...:rolleyes::D
