Ok, so who watches Austin City Limits? This seems to me to be practically the only quality musical performance show on television. It is kind of amazing to me that with a thousand channels, there is only one show of this type available. (Well, there is that Jools Holland British show too). Is there anyone who thinks ACL is Not a must-watch? Am I alone here? Is there something else I am missing?

Once in awhile. I'm really out of touch on some of these new bands and music. I often have never heard of some of the performers. I have enjoyed it through the years though, just not so much now.

The Beck show from a few years back is really fun!

Here on the south east coast we have the Axs channel (DirectTV). Mostly music, a lot of rock, but occasionally my kind of stuff, older country and country-rock.

It went from a show with a fairly concrete identity into one that is trying to be everything to everyone. I was inclined to watch almost anytime, but now I only tune in for acts I like.

There was a time when we stopped down whatever we were doing, no matter what, and would watch ACL. Country, blues, rock, jazz, amalgamation of genres—it didn’t matter; it was always entertaining, usually inspiring and often educational.

Recently, some of the bands featured do not warrant that type of dedication.

No, I’m not getting old—a lot of newer music sucks.

I voted once in a while but I'm more like "Austin What Happened"?

It comes on Saturday night at 10pm CST here. Time isn't a big deal because I'm usually soaking up all my weekend time off anyway. It's just I'm not interested in the bands performing. Some are just too "artsy" for my tastes and the others are just too weird.

I do check the guide every Saturday to see who's playing but I'm not sure all PBS channels are programmed the same because mine seems to play a lot of reruns and not what I deem the classic performances but my local affiliate seem to really like the 2015 season because it seems those get re-ran the most. The last ACL episodes I DVR'd was Sturgil Simpson and a Dale Watson episode.

I don't like my new PBS channel compared to the one I used to get. My new channel doesn't air Red Green like my old channel did. Now that was a show I never missed an episode of!

Live at Daryl's house is far more appealing to me in the last 5-6 years. The old Palladia channel was good until MTV took it over and ruined it. AXYS TV was pretty good too but I dropped some Dish channels to get my bill a little more reasonable and I lost that channel.

Red Green....there's a blast from the past. I grew up in Hamilton Ontario and ran into Steve Smith and his wife a few times. Very nice guy and doesn't really have as raspy a voice as Red Green. That was a great show that women could not understand.

As for ACL, I only watch it now when there's a band I'm familiar with

Ha, first thing I did was look at the thread date to see if this wasn't posted 7 or 8 years ago. They had quality back then.

I stumble upon it once in awhile when surfing channels. Rarely anymore do I hear/see any artists that I'm interested in performing. Saw a great documentary on Les Paul today on AXS TV.
