All pickled cabbage is good. Kraut, Kimchi, Cambodian whatsit, pick your ethnicity, If it's salted, pickled, and fermented cabbage that will last for years, I'm your guy if you need it gone tonight.

Don't forget; sauerkraut goes well on a sausage/Pepperoni PIZZA. I learned that in Wisconsin ! Agree, it's needed on a hot dog.

When I was a kid, the school cafeteria served up several different helpings of mud, and swamp rat tails, but the sauerkraut and weenies they served up once in a great while kind of made up for the other stuff we ate. A kraut dog is a delight you should not have been deprived of this long.

As a kid I cringed when my mom made canned sauerkraut with sliced up weenies... so bitter.

As an adult I learned that you're supposed to rinse it! Add butter, diced apple, caraway seed and link sausage.

Makes a great sandwich tomorrow with dark mustard.

I love bratwurst with sauerkraut and mustard, eat it often.

My favorite local pizza place has a polish sausage and sauerkraut pizza that's great.

Years after I moved away from my little Northeast Nebraska town we got a Pizza Hut. Probably the only Pizza Hut that had a Hamburger and Sauerkraut pizza on the menu. Sold more of those than any other kind. And regarding the dogs, I had two Wimmer's Natural Case weiners with sauerkraut and mustard for supper...and ketchup.

Marzen ! My favorite liquid in the world (besides water)

Crispy skinned sausages (natural casing and/or grilled) are key when partnering with sauerkraut.

Got to save that stuff though. Special occasions.

Remember, theres only one thing in the world that hates sausages :

    Your heart !

And there’s nothing worse than low-fat or “lean” sausages...yuck !

The lowly but mighty pizza is doomed to suffer all manner of indignities.
    Saurkraut.
    Damn.
I'm going to avoid commenting on the dangers of Italian/German ventures ;)

I eat turkey sausages, no bun, with Moishe's original oil and vinegar coleslaw and Kozliks hot mustard. Deeelicious!

    Peace on you Larry.

Love kraut and Bertmans stadium mustard on a dog at an Indians game especially!

You know that might be the only way I could learn to endure sauerkraut. Hide it in pizza. I think when it's in condiment form I start setting up defense mechanisms.

IMHO the Reuben is one of the world’s greatest sandwiches, and it’s a combo of ingredients I would have never thought of. That’s what think of when I think sauerkraut.

The vinegar slaw that accompanies BBQ is the southern version of kraut.
