Help a brother out . I’ m selling my CV 50’s and 60’s teles to buy something made of ash and made really well. What would you get ? G&L , MIM , something else ?
With the proceeds from those two Squier CV's, I would think you'd have enough for a very fine partscaster that would be excellent quality and exactly the specs you desire. I went the all spec'd by me MJT relic partcaster path for my #1 (one piece 3.5 lb swamp ash body, musikraft maple neck with 1 11/16" nut, lollar pickups, etc.) and its a gem.
Also, prices on used high quality component partscasters that fit your bill can be had relatively cheap vs. paying up for Fender or G&L name brands.
As singin Dave stated there are some nicely speced partscasters that become available. The biggest pitfall that I see there is people who ask way too much money for assembling import "stuff", pricing a guitar for big$ because they think very highly of themselves. Then again, you can find some that I would term "customs" because they actually know how to fit and finish quality parts.
My biggest pet peeve, as someone who uses only the best components and sprays laquer rather well, is builds that go on about the quality then list a cheap neck. Grrr...
I sold a build on this forum a few years ago, using the best of everything, for the price of the parts. No thought of the finish time for a tinted nitro neck and lovely butterscotch lightweight ash body.
Take your time shop wisely, and the process will be enjoyable.
Something wrong with what you have? Why do you think an ash body will be that much better/different than what you already have?
Are your current guitars in need of a better set up or mods to be a little more playable?
Not sure what you expect to get for those guitars in Europe? A good partscaster will run at least $800-$1200 USD with quality parts.
You might look for a used nice MIA Tele of what you're looking for?
Thank you for replying !
Spudcaster , Cv are excellent guitars. The thing is I would like an ash body version. Ash just gives me the vibe I like .
Singing’ Dave an Ponycar , thanks for the suggesting a build . Don’t know why but it didn’t cross my mind . You are right, it should be cheaper and more specific. It would be my first though..
