Ok, working with a few things for the 1st time and Im about to run my head into a wall!
#1 in the process of finishing up a rreally nice semi hollow.
part of my building plan was to install a HQ Piezo bridge (wilkinson Nashville GREAT sounding !) along with a preamp module.
When I got all my parts in I wired everything up and tested it and everything is GREAT.
STart working on the body, which includes a 1 3/4" x 2" hole in the side of the guitar t9 mount the preamp, and making sure everything fits! again everythings working GREAT
go through months of fine setup and finish workl and finally ready to assemble and test, everything works GREAT!
Until, I try and slide the , now wred up, preamp (the afore mentioned ARTEC EQ7545R) into the guitar body.
Now I had measured and remeasured and did it again, all before I cut, because this was a REALLY nice looking guitar.
Turns out that the 3/8" (long) pin that is used to plug the wilkinson bridge into the pre amp is SMALLER than the standard 1/8" plugs used almost everywhere else. Why does this matter? Well because when I was trying to plug the pre amp into the body the plug broke.
Now I had the old style piezo pickup that came w/ the pre amp so in true po' man style figured I'd cut that wire in half, strip th wires off that plg and be ready to go!
Unfortunately in NO match of wiring, red to red white to white, red to wire at EITHER end of the circuit, would make ot work.
SO then, just to see if maybe something IN the cavity had gone wonky I tried to use a different pre amp and different piezo pup (slid under the trings for test purposes) and everything worked well.
EVEN tried using the wilkinson wires on the new pre amp, no go.
Now I COULD just wire everything to the output jack and get good sound (decent volume too!) but then I have the hole in the side of the guitar.
or I could plug that hole w/ the un plugged preaamp and wire straight to the jack, but then it seems as though theres no voluse control or EG.
I HAVE ordered another 7545R, it will be here Wed.m and Im hoping it will resolve my issue, but does anyone have ANY ideas as to what this could be about?
at this point theres not much I wouldnt be willing to try.
Thanks
J
