I had "The End is not in Sight" running around at the edges of my mind for days. I could not think of a single word only the melody, nor who I could hear just playing. The yesterday, I thought Arlo! Arlo, Arlo who? Looked on the net found a little over twenty three million references to Arlo Guthrie. Finally I thought ARLO WEST today!

If you read the comments Arlo made, he dedicated this song to someone a few of you will remember. I felt like Larry and one his tunes he can't remember!

I remember this one well - this was one of the first clips with Keystone pickups from Bill Lawrence.

Yeah, he last posted a couple of years ago, and not in the Bad Dog Café since 2013. He usually had something good to contribute, and his video clips are awesome.

He had been building a career as a forensic audio investigator.

Complicated story, but bear with me if you know Arlo. OK, a number of years ago, Mel Gibson and his mistress left a bunch of voicemail messages for each other that we publicly aired.

Arlo appeared on some cable news program, claiming that he could tell by ear that one of the voices had been recorded on a Neumann U47, in a studio.

I know he worked as an audio engineer including a U2 album.

    He’s an interesting guy.

    Cheers,
    Geoff

Thanks for the reminder, TD. After my gig at a pub on Valentine's Day, I was making a list of songs that I hadn't played at that venue, so that my next gig there would include songs they haven't previously heard me do. I forgot to put that one on the list. I certainly don't play it as well as Arlo, but it's a part of my repertoire.

Yep another TDPRIer that I miss. Arlo and Castpolymer and sometimes occasionally Chet.

I love that song and have it saved as a favourite in my bookmarks.
It is an Amazing Rythm Aces song and you can also see both theirs and Arlo's versions on Youtube. Not hard to figure it out to play either.
It was part of his showing his 'Ol Piney and Bill Lawrence Keystone pickups ( through a Laney amp). It's cool and relaxing.
    Where is Arlo nowadays/
He had a band with an Adelaide guy ( my city) on bass and was quoted as an audio specialist in a Mel Gibson lawsuit case. Has he gone back to Maine? Must be cold up there.

I have no info about Arlo. I just got to running that tune through my mind, it was just at the edge of my limited capacities to interpret! Finally, like I said, Arlo's name popped into my head, then finally West. We used to have some really cool posters on the forum that have slipped away. There's mention of Ol' Fuzzy on the dedication. I love the Amazing Rhythm Aces version, but man, old Arlo can play!

Arlo made the pinecaster pretty famous. I wanted to get one myself for a while.
