always dig Arlen's playing. that CD cover is total guitar porn, those 3 Teles just simply had the mojo popping right out of the photo.

Arlen was the first guy to turn me on to pedal steel type bends on electric guitar, in a book on Nashville Style Guitar on Oak publications in the early 70's. He has some pretty hip techniques, like bending the string and then lightly touching it twelve frets up when it's fully bent, to bring out the harmonic. He had an awesome floppy vinyl record that was bound into Guitar Player mag many years ago, showing off his tele playing. Great picker.
    Swang on,

I didn't know he had a new cd out. I'll have to get it. I've been a fan of his for years. Lately I've been working on his lessons on the Gibson website. He is an excellant instructor.

The nominations will not be announced till Dec. 5. Somebody's jumping the gun for promotional purposes I would think. A Tele player is up for 4 of them? Arlen's a great player, but this kind of stuff smells.

In fact, take a look at the OP, Telemenow's, postings. All he ever posts about is Arlen Roth. Over and over and over again. Hmm. Makes one wonder if he IS Arlen Roth. That would be pretty low to be promoting yourself under a false identity.

    Just sayin'

AWESOME NEWS!!!! Arlen is one of my guitar hero's (and a friend), and I couldn't be happier for him.

One of his other projects is The Guitar Hall of Fame. If anyone is interested in learning more, here's the link.

Sadly I think Mitch is spot on. I'm not even sure it's Arlen himself, but it certainly appears to be someone in his camp. This would explain the mini hijack on the thread about Matt Rae's new CD. If this is the case, it certainly puts all of Telemenow's posts in a different light when I re-read them.
It's only natural that everyone has their own agenda, but there's a problem when it has to be hidden.

Nope, I can see where you'd say that!! Just a dedicated student of his, and he is who turned me on to all things "Tele!" His nominations are in the first round apparantly, and for "Best Pop Instrumental" album, best instrumental song, best instrumental composition and a production/arrangment nomination for one of the tunes.......I've been taking lessons from Arlen in person and on Hot Licks tapes forever!

Those guitars don't seem to be in the same space as each other, the car, and Arlen. They show an awful lot of detail, clarity, and balance. BritishBlues Boy, what is your opinion?

This is what I thought. I went back and read some of your posts, and that was the conclusion I reached. You mention lesson from him via Skype, and that's when it clicked. There was a time when I was Larry Coryell this, Larry Coryell that. You are Arlen's Bulldog. For the meaning of this, check out Groucho's Huxley Bulldogs team from Horse Feathers. Then find out who Huxley was and his relation to Darwin. Long list of connect-the-dots, sorry.

This is a funny thread. I always though Arlen was the biggest self promoter I'd ever seen or heard so it wouldn't be a big stretch if it was him posting about himself. Although he would have no problem talking about himself under his own name so maybe it's not him. Hi this is Arlen Roth. Let me tell you about me, Arlen Roth and my Arlen Roth videos and Arlen Roth books. Here's a guitar that was specially built for me, Arlen Roth. Big name dropper also.
