The great Arlen Roth really out did himself with this book.

History and influences on blues, country, R&B, and rock. (this was before jazz started to embrace the Tele).

Great classic examples of all the great Telemasters

Standard notation and tab plus 2 cds.

    Classic Tele licks from,
    Steve Cropper
    Cornell Dupree
    Roy Buchanan
    Albert Collins
    Muddy Waters
    Clarence White
    James Burton
    Danny Gatton
    Albert Lee
    Jerry Donahue
    Scotty Anderson
    Marty Stuart
    Vince Gill
    Jimmy Bryant
    Keith Ruchards
    Pete Townsend
    Andy Summers
    Jeff Beck
    Jimmy Page

In my opinion, any Tele player that likes these players this book could be absolutely invaluable.

Yep... I've worked my way (and picked out bits) from this masterpiece for years. It's great when you get 'stuck in a rut' for finding a way to pull you out.

I think I was mistaken, after researching I believe he's alive and well. Sorry

Pretty sure he still lives in/around Woodstock.
    I think there's a new record, too.

In 1997 I bought two things in succession: a James Burton Standard Tele and Arlen's book.

I still can't play like any of those guys in the book, though.

I love Arlen. A kid from NY who plays country guitar as well as anyone south of the Mason/Dixon Line. I have a cd of his that is wonderful, Landscapre. I also have a dvd and used to have one of his books.

You must've been thinking of Hyman Roth.

    I have Arlen's book somewhere.
I should dig it out this week.
Time to help my practices along.

Love the Telemasters album. Been playing it quite a bit since I got it. Makes me want to take my guitars out back, throw 'em in a pile and set the whole works on fire though. I'll never even sniff that level of playing but it sure is enjoyable to listen to.

Guess I need to get that book too. Maybe I can read better than I play.

Great book and I love the fact that he had the custom shop paint a guitar in Tahitian Coral after his '58 Buick Roadmaster.

    Great player/educator!
I “stole” some of my favorite faux steel licks from Mr. Roth.
