That perception (the felon generalization, not the millionaire reality) is mistaken, and part of the problem with the 24/7 sports news cycle. More of those athletes start foundations and build houses and schools for the poor, etc than commit felonies. I could list them for days, and interestingly, the sports media really don't talk about it that much.

Teams (especially owners and leagues) have politicized sports for decades, louder and clearer than anything players have been saying lately. Whether I agree with the ideas being conveyed or not, this isn't an even remotely recent phenomenon.

I love that a long while ago (I think the 1990s) they ran a promotion to draw United States fans with the catch phrase "Our Balls Are Bigger" (the actual ball they play with is in fact a bit larger - longer and pointier).

U.S. pro motocross is the American motorsport that is on top of its game, at least as far as the athletes are concerned. There's a reason MXers from other parts of the world aspire to compete here.

Right! They are paid to play a game, not to virtue signal the public. I have a hard time listening to a lecture about inequality from a dude who made ten million dollars last year playing a big-boy version of a kids' game.

You mean like Soccer, Basketball... Hockey... Baseball?

Almost all team sports have coaches on the sideline calling the plays, formations...alignments etc..

Great point, no doubt about that. Ignorantly excluded two wheel motorsports. I watch a little MotoGP from time to time but that's it.
