All of my guitars have medium to thinner necks, none have maple fretboards, most have shorter scale lengths, and all have more articulate, cleaner pickups tending toward a P-90 sound. I hate muddy lows and ear piercing highs.

Well, each to his own.
I don't find reason in having several guitars of the same brand or model, with only minor differences in their sound.
My main guitar is a Music Man St Vincent with 3 mini-hubuckers.
My second favorite (actually my main guitar before I bought the St Vincent) is an Ibanez Artcore hollowbody which I modded with a P90 in neck position.

My other guitars are mainly played here and there at home.
- a telecaster-type with 2 humbuckers;
- a PRS-type with 3 singlecoils,
- a semi-acoustic with 2 P90s and a floating bridge,
- a semi-acoustic kind of Epiphone/335 copy with 2 P90s,
- a hollowbody with a bigsby type vibrato,
- a Gretsch Baritone which sounds fabulous, but just doesn't work all the time.
- a Sterling by Music Man St Vincent, which is nice, but not as good as the original MM. I use that for lower and open tunings,..

All sound differnt and all have been in use for different purpose.

The St Vincent is my absolute favourite for the handling, the neck and the variability.
The Ibanez comes second for pretty much the same reasons: it was my favourite neck before I got the St Vincent.

I have 20 guitars and some duplicates as far as the models go (i.e. Les Pauls, Tele/T-type, Strat/S-type), but all have a feature or two that sets them apart from their relatives.

3 classic Tele's, 1 Strat, 1 LP Copy with p90's and a Gibson 335. A Martin acoustic and a modified Bronco Bass. I play the tele's and 335 the most. In my future I see more Tele's and a Danelectro.

One of each is fine with me. So far it's one Telecaster, one Esquire, one Jazzmaster, one Stratocaster, one Firebird, one Ric 12, one J45, one campfire guitar (Hofner dread). I'd still like to add one SG Junior.

If you have a few different guitars are all of your different guitars the same ?
Mine are , I have eight electric guitars 4 Tele's and 4 Strats.
I have had a Les Paul , SG , Jazzmaster and 3 different Ibanez and sold them all.
Does that make me a collector or a nut?
Naah, I try and get all 31 flavors.

I own 3 basses. All Peavey Axcelerator 5 strings. They're all different colors, and have different string types. Someday I'll settle on one set of strings.

For the most part no. I do have two Blackguard T types but they have different pickups and neck profiles.

Cheers,
Geoff

Five electrics: 2006 Epi Sheraton USA Reissue, 1993 Heritage H 550, D'Angelico Excel SS, Epi Elitist Riviera 12 String, and Lake Placid Blue, Double-Bound Tele partscaster. Several common threads between them include: all are equipped with mini humbuckers (Tele has one in neck), all but the Tele and 12 string have piezo bridges installed, and all but the 12 string have Roland GK3 synth pickups installed. Acoustics include my avatar, a 1939 Martin D18, and a 1998 Taylor 815ce. Both are excellent, but do sound somewhat different, both acoustically and electrically.

At one time I had a Thinline, 4 maple board Teles, 3 rosewood board Teles (2 of which were AV64s-White Blonde and Fiesta Red), 2 Strats (Maple and Rosewood), ES339, R8, Ric 12, D28, Southern Jumbo, J-185, Taylor 150e 12 string, Taylor NS24.
Now it’s just the Southern Jumbo, 000-18 and these

Mine started out different.

Now the 2 Teles have Strat neck pickups and the Strat has a Tele bridge. They all sound different, but I know what I like.
